Mizoram U-21 on the way to Goa


National U-21 Football championship 2009 held at Goa is a great history for Mizoram. On may 6th, Mizoram defeated one of the most promising club West bengal by 4-1 in Quarter final.Since 1992 Mizoram tries hard for M duta Trophy,but the dream to attain the best for the same was in vain for many years!.

Title contender Mizoram confirmed its semi-final berth by defeating defending champions Goa 3-1 in group ''1'' of the 18th U-21 National Football championship match, played at Nehru stadium Fatorda in South Goa today.
Mizoram moved ahead in the 16th minute of the first half through Lal Huapzauva off a through pass, received from David Lalrin Movana.
They consolidated their lead in the 45th minute through Lal Ruatfela. The goal was a result of a fine combined move, when Nalsawmzuala passed to Lal Chan Chhuacha, who quickly forwarded it to better placed Lal Ruatfela to score second goal.
Conceding two goals in the first half, Goa started with positive note in the second half and reduced the margin in the 51st minute through Agnelo Monteiro. Agnelo Colaco's powerful shot, which was saved by the rival goalkeeper, rebound to Monteiro and he made no mistake to score the goal.
