Mahindra United officially announced David Booth as the club's new coach for the next three seasons, on Tuesday.
Booth, the former Mumbai FC coach, replaces recently departed former international Derrick Pereira, who was asked to leave the club as soon as the I-League season had concluded although he had another year on his contract to run. Derrick Pereira did not want to continue in an unwanted position, and so he and the Board decided to part ways upon conclusion of the Mumbai League, which the Jeepmen went on to win. The Mahindra United Board of Directors first courted Mohun Bagan coach Karim Bencharifa during the second phase of the I-League, but then soon switched their attention to the Mumbai FC trio of GM Henry Menezes, Coach David Booth, and Assistant Arshad Hussain once they were intimated of the trio's availability. The trio promptly resigned from Mumbai FC once it became apparent that the Essel Group backed club was going to scale back its ambitions and expenses.
