After ten minutes, however, Eto'o put the Spanish champions ahead and they never looked back. Xavi Hernández struck a post early in the second period and, though the clinching second goal did not arrive until the 70th minute – via, unusually, the head of Messi – Josep Guardiola's side were worthy winners. Baichung Bhutia's media interaction at the Howrah Maidan on Monday afternoon did create quite a stir. Especially the statement of never willing to play for Mohun Bagan again and that he will ask for his release from the remaining one year of his contract. Baichung was angry and also upset at the way Mohun Bagan had gone about questioning his commitment towards the Green-and-Maroon. This resulted in the sharp reaction. And with the Indian skipper suddenly being on the market has numerous clubs looking at their options.

Santa Cruz inplace of Adebayor

Arsene Wenger is back in for Roque Santa Cruz as Arsenal prepare to auction off Emmanuel Adebayor.
Arsenal boss Wenger has re-ignited his interest in Santa Cruz as he believes he can broker a cut-price £10million deal for the Blackburn star.
Paraguayan striker Santa Cruz, 27, was a £20m target for Manchester City in January but their interest has waned and that has left Blackburn knowing they could lose millions on him this summer.
Santa Cruz is Wenger’s long-standing choice as a replacement for Adebayor, whose own long-term future has been in doubt ever since AC Milan and Barcelona tried to sign him last summer.
Adebayor signed a new contract after staying at Arsenal but his form has dropped badly and the club will sell if they can get the right price for him – and a ready-made replacement.
Togo striker Adebayor admitted he was flattered by AC Milan’s interest in him last summer and the Italians are likely to renew their attempts to sign him

Badrinath, Hayden take Chennai to IPL summit

Marius, who works in a private firm in Kimberley brought his son to the De Beers Diamond Oval to give him a taste of what the cricket carnival was like. Father and son were there for two matches although the second didn't give them the thrill that T20 or IPL promises.
Proceedings were grim from the start, in contrast with the mood in the stands where people were waiting to cut loose with drummer Sivamani. And there were others in the stands sporting the blue turbans of the Rajasthan Royals.
Kimberley had hosted matches of the 2003 World Cup but never did they come across such a cricket spectacle.
For those interested in stuff other than drums and fancy shirts, there was enough on offer in the form of Matthew Hayden versus Shane Warne. This might have happened in Victoria-Queensland games but for the less privileged, the two were enacting it once more.
The target for Hayden’s team was not steep and the Royals’ attack did not warrant especial care either. By some stroke of luck, it boiled down to a duel between two retired giants. Hayden waited for a while, played back down the pitch and in a flash of pure brilliance stepped out to hit Warne straight out of the ground. Hayden didn't last the distance but did enough to best Warne on the day even as S Badrinath applied the finishing touches to the win.
